Q.I have been praying to God to bless me with a husband for a while now but He hasn’t yet answered my prayers? How can I deal with my inability to wait on Him?
Dear reader,
A. This is a common question among single Christians. It’s always hard for us to wait on God for anything. When we pray we sometimes want God to answer our prayers instantly but this is not always the case. So, how can single Christians who have asked God for a spouse wait patiently on Him? Do keep in mind that to wait patiently is also to be still with a good attitude. We all can wait for something if we have to but the question is “Can we wait with a good attitude?”
I think one of the first things for you to realize is that God has a schedule for everything. He knows when He is going to bring your desire(s) to pass, in this case a spouse. It’s already written down even though you don’t know when He will bring it to pass. It is important to trust Him and believe that His timing is best. Could it be that there are some things that God would like you to first accomplish as a single person or before he brings you a mate? Could it be that God is still doing a work in your future mate? Or could it simply be that He desires to teach some valuable life lessons such as being patient and trusting Him? All these could be causes of why God has not yet answered your prayer.
I would also encourage you “not to anxiously look about you” as the Scripture says. When we start looking at who is getting married before us and all we become anxious and impatient but when we focus on obeying God and working for Him we stay at peace. I will leave you with this Scripture verse: “You will keep at perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because He trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
